FEATURED VENDOR OF THE WEEK: AUTUMN'S HARVEST
Autumns Harvest started out slowly in 2014, attending a few markets mostly with peas. Each year since then they have increased their attendance and amount of produce that they bring to the market to sell. They are now a consistent vendor at every Wednesday market. When Jenny moved here and saw the richness of the soil on this land and abundance of water it felt like she had an obligation to grow food here. This valley needs to be growing more food and Jenny believes we need to stop relying so heavily on the food trucks arriving to the grocery store. Small scale farming is the future to save the world 😊
Autumm's Harvest is a no till organically grown farm, trying to focus on soil ecology and creating a full circle of composting to include adding amendments and nutrients from animal friends on the farm.
Peas have always grown really well here and have always been my favourite to sell, even though they take so long to pick, but this year Jenny's been really excited about the Mixed greens that they sell in bulk. Its usually a bit different every week and is mixed in with some edible flowers, making it quite an artisanal salad. They're really excited about selling a lot of products in bulk this year eliminating most of our need for bags. Thanks to everyone bringing there bins!
Last year ,Jenny partnered with Sherri to create a pretty awesome women powered duo. Farming is a lot of work and it can be challenging especially raising children, this partnership allows them both to spend time with friends families reducing the chance of the all to common burnout that can happen to farmers.
You can find Jenny each Wednesday at the Golden Farmers' Market from 12-5pm at the CP Parking lot.
